Sunny Farms Advancing Sustainable Gas Purification System
Later this year, WIN Waste Innovations will break ground on our new Landfill Gas Purification System, a $35 million project, which will enhance the environmental protection measures we have implemented since WIN Waste acquired Sunny Farms Landfill.
Located on 2 acres of landfill property, the system is a partnership with Merichem Company, featuring technology that safely removes sulfur from the landfill gas stream. The treatment process will convert hydrogen sulfide to solid, elemental sulfur that can be used for soil application and other agricultural purposes. This creates a closed-loop system in which sulfur is repurposed as fertilizer, which enhances the growth of vegetation that in turn sequesters more carbon, reducing global emissions.
